National Briefing | Midwest: Missouri: State of Emergency Stays in Place in Ferguson

Ferguson will remain under a state of emergency for at least another night, county officials said on Wednesday.
The state of emergency, which gives the St. Louis County police oversight of security in the city, was declared after a shooting near a protest Sunday night to mark the one-year anniversary of the death of Michael Brown.
The decision came after two nights of relatively peaceful protests, with the police reporting no arrests during a demonstration Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
County Executive Steve Stenger said he believed it was "prudent to continue the state of emergency for at least the next 24 hours."
